I was told that 20 minutes and over is the best time to put down when it came to how long this take.
For example T.J use to wake in the night because he was thirsty, kicked off his covers or just woke up for no apparent reason. If I didn't put that it took at least 20 minutes to sort him out and settle him back off to sleep then it didn't count as being woken in the night. Which would mean we weren't entitled to higher rate DLA. Even though it could happen 3 or 4 times unless it lasted 20 minutes or longer it didn't count.
That was the rule of thumb I used for most of the form. I had a Mencap representivie help me with mine. T.J needs his redoing next year when he turns 16.

Thanks for some of this. I'm going to try to tackle a bit more of the form tomorrow.

    I got the letter today!

He's been approved for DLA. Middle rate for help with personal care; lower rate for help with getting around.

    Woohoo!!!

This is going to be such a big help for all of us right now.

Getting me a break from the kids once a week to start with. And once the weather warms up, I want to look into getting a small trampoline we can have outdoors for John to jump on.
