Never mind the windows, how about the skirting boards???

Chance conversation with SiL last night - she has taken on a job cleaning for a bloke one evening a week and she was saying "it's quite easy now, I've done all the big things like washing the skirting boards..." I was rather shocked and mentioned this to MiL tonight - FiL laughed and said he did them before he paints them once every twenty years and MiL rolled her eyes and said "yes dear... I do them about every six months". And then my childminder says she gets down on her hands and knees and scrubs them once a month. But she does have a wee dog.

There's a place in the hall which is a real crossroads and I might occasionally have taken a cloth to the skirting and door frame (and wall) there where things get spilt or muddy shoes have bumped, but systematically going round and washing all the skirting boards at a set interval? Should I hand in my resignation now before I am sacked?

I give the duster (or hoover) a flick over the top of the skirtings to get rid of dust but only actually wipe them down when I do a full top to bottom clean.

lol only if they are really mucky and bothering me.

Having said that when I was a hospital cleaner one summer I remember having to mop the up-stands on the Lino flooring in all of the wards and corridors with a mini mop. That was back breaking.

If the hoover is near them, I may use it. I may have dusted them once or twice.

I run the hoover ( well actually it's a Vax ) attachment over them whilst hoovering a room. When I was younger my mum used the wash them and the door frames regularly with an amonia mix!

I wipe them down when I Vacuum - I use baby wipes to wipe them down. But don't move anything to do it!! LOL!!!

I say Vacuum over hoover as I used to work for Zanussi and you couldn't call a hoover a hoover as it was a brand name!!!
