    Washing a vinyl tablecloth

I have a vinyl table cloth in the kitchen and it is lookig a bit worse for wear as it's quite pale and some strong coloured food have left their mark!

Can I machine wash it? I don't really want to replace it as it really ties in with my kitchen decor but it needs something!

    I don't know.
But I'd be tempted to do it on a work or replace it basis.

I doubt if stains will come out of the oilcloth.

HAve you tried Barkeepers Friend on the individual stains?

That said, I suspect you'll ruin it by washing it.

You'll probably either ruin the cloth or it will make your washing machine go out of balance on spin if its in its own and then you might damage your washer too. They sound like a great idea though, I only have cotton ones for our dining table.

I have tried barkeepers it hasn't shifted them, I think most are from bolognaise!! Sporty they are fab for everyday use, mine is on the kitcen table so can be for art and craft and then wipe down easilhy. It's a few years old but I love the design.

Don't know if it will work on vinyl like it does on clothes, but have you tried hanging it out on the line in the sun? I find the sun works fantastic on taking tomato sauce based stains (i.e bolognaise) out of clothes but as I say, I don't know if it'd work on the vinyl.

I'd be inclined to lay it outside and get some cif cream cleaner on it. And scrub

Perhaps the stains will lift with bicarb and lemon?

You'll need to go steady with either, it might leave it patchy but you won't be any worse off!

Barkeepers and lemon juice together have almost shifted them! I will have a go at putting it on the garden table next time it's sunny as that might shift the remaining marks
