DD2 slept from 7:30pm-3am so 7.5hrs between feeds last night. She's 6 weeks old, is it ok to let a BF baby go this long at such a young age? DD1 never went more than 2-4 hrs even when she was about a year old!
Personally I wouldn't . dd did this at 8/9 weeks and her weight plummeted .
I agree with Fiona, (Well and Liz!)
My newest addition has had the occaisional long stretch (He's 17 weeks old now) and I have worried about it at the time, but the next day hes back to 2-3 hourly. He she carries on going 7.5 I would probably wake her or dream feed her. But then again, if she is feeding plenty in the day and maybe cluster feeding all evening, she might be ok going this long. Keep an eye on her nappies, always a good sign they are getting plenty enough milk.
thanks all. she feeds on and off from about 4:30-7/7:30 and then has her longest stretch generally through till 1ish but then feeds once or twice before 'getting up' for the morning. she is also having some nice big poopy nappies through the day. think I'll keep an eye on her weight gain over the next couple of weeks and if things slow up I'll start setting my alarm clock to get up and feed her!
You crazy people waking a sleeping baby!!!! lol
Seb has been my big sleeper, he has consistently woken once of twice a night, from birth, apart from teething, colds and growth spurts.
Does she eat well during the day? I found Seb ate a huge amount during the day, and slept at night. Probably cos he never got much sleep with Alastair around lol
I say if there are no concerns about her weight gain, then enjoy it. Rather than setting an alarm clock, I would maybe give her a dream feed before you go to sleep? And make sure that she eats plenty before bed too, I would sit and feed Seb for about 2 hours before he went to sleep.
