    My breastfeeding story

Some of you will know that I have had fairly major problems breastfeeding Swyn.

A few weeks ago I decided to write it all down as its had a fairly traumatic effect on me- it was cathartic to write it all down.

Anyway tonight I finally got round to blog it- in case it helps anybody else who has similar problems to me.

    The link is here

Oh my goodness, you have done so well. I had no milk at all when I had DS ( they put it down to a third degree tear that wasn't repaired for several hours resulting in a large blood loss, not sure if that was true or not).

After a week or so, all he was doing was sleeping and he was classed as failing to thrive too. I was trying desperately to feed him myself in the hope that it would stimulate the supply somehow.
I was a first time mum then so I didn't really question the advice about putting him onto formula although I felt like a total failure and was very very low about it, to the point that I would not bottle feed in public. How I wish I had found something like MO then!

Once again Pixie I really take my hat off to you for perservering

Pixie do you mind if I link that somewhere else. It must be great to have written it all down now on paper - almost cathartic.

pixie u r such an inspiration, so many of my friends and family have given up thru no fault of their own, which has been so upsetting because being a mum u feel u should be able to feed ur baby no matter what, and many hav felt such failures....
u should feel so proud that u hav such determination and all the hard times will b worth it,
when i had ds2 one side stopped producing and i felt utterly helpless..not given the right advice i gave up feeding him, i was gutted!!
this time with the right support i'm doing ok- although he has got 4 teeth now

i've shown it to my lactation consultant (sharon) and she's given me links to add which I have- so if anyone needs someone like Sharon- ie a consultant as opposed to a counsellor- there are links to find one

I will take time to read your blog Pixie. You have been remarkably strong throughout.

I found the Express Yourself Mums website really helpful when I had ds.

    Hey Pixie,

That's a fantastic story, really inspirational to other breastfeeders. Would it be okay to post it to my site too? I'll post it under your pseudonym so no one can identify you, but I'm really hoping that my site will become everything that you want from your story ... a place where mums can go to read others' breastfeeding experiences and be inspired by them and feel less alone.

As a first time breastfeeder that's all I want to do! Link to my site is in my sig, so check it out and see if it's the kind of thing you wouldn't mind doing.

    Share your breastfeeding experiences!
