Known risks of early weaning include kidney problems, increased risk of digestive disorders, triggering of allergies, eczema and asthma and link to childhood obesity. Your HV should have explained this to you and if she hasn't perhaps you should consider reporting her to your Primary Care Trust as although her advice may not have had a negative effect on your ds another baby may not be so lucky.
It is normal for him to up his milk demands at around 2 months whether breast or formula fed , and again at around 4 months which is often interpreted as a cue to wean. Your ds may well seem happy enough to take some solids (what was it btw, fairly sweet by any chance?) but doesn't mean he needs it - think of how you might still like a pudding after a full meal.
Do hope I haven't come across as nagging and you are able to get some answers and more helpful from HV.
I started weaning at 4 months.
I haven't a clue when mine started on beakers - I just remember being told that they should have stopped using bottles by the time they are 1 year old as bad for their teeth etc.
9 weeks definitely sounds too young to start on beakers though.
