Flucloxacillin (Penicillin) Tablets - 25 weeks pregnancy - Help

    Hi

Im 25, nearly 26 weeks pregnant. Ive been to the Doctor today about this awful rash on my skin (face). He said it was infected and it was a form of Dermatitus. He prescribed me 500mg Flucloxacillin Capsules (4 times daily).

I asked him TWICE if it was safe to take during pregnancy and he assured me that it was completely safe.
Ive just been on the net and I cant find anything to suggest it is dangerous and it states that no known affects have been reported on unborn babies.

Im still a little scared at taking them, I want to but I just wanted to doubly make sure as if anything happened just because I am taking them for my skin, Id just die.

Have any of you taken them during pregnancy?

If your doctor told you it was safe and you have been on the net then I think you should take it as prescribed. If you are that unsure ask your pharmacist.

You doctor has reassured you. The chemist wouldn't have given them to an obviously pregnant woman unless he thought they were safe. And the web has come up with nothing against them, all the medical sites I looked at said it was safe. I don't think anything we can say will reassure you, as you already have lots of evidence.
I would like to say, though, that it is important for a pregnant woman to get an infection treated. It may just be in your skin but all your body is integral to your health and the baby's.

It is safe to take in pregnancy. ITA with Annie, leaving the infection would be a far more dangerous thing to do. Just get some Yakult typre stuff in in case it gives you thrush!
