    placental donation

anyone know anything about it? A friend is thinking of doing it and has had nothing but shocked reactions from her family and friends
It sounds very positive to me, but I don't know much about it and said I would try and find out more for her

I've just googled this as have never heard of this before. Yes I would have done (am probably done now), unless I was going to cook it up at a placenta party, theres no further use for it so why not donate?

I know the midwife who delivered ALex tookmy placenta off to discuss with the other MWs and doctors, as it was quite unusual to see so many placental clots and for there to have been a live birth.
I say go for it, sounds like a great idea to me.

I wouldn't be against it & if it helps with research then why not... is this a new thing given that none of us know anything about it?

    Don't know about placental donation.
i donated DS1's cord blood for transplant or research, unfortunately was unable to do so with DS2 , as I had such a rapid labour that they didn't have time to go throufgh the whole consent rigmarole
