Thread: Too much water

on my mates scan she had to much water, what can that mean??? she having second scan next week. thank you for any ideas :-)

How many weeks pg is she?
Any other complications?
Is this her first child?
Did the Dr think it was a problem?

she's due in december, and its her frist, don't think theres any thing eles to it tho, just exsess water.

it means they will keep an eye on her. I had oodles of excess water with alex which they didn't pick up on. told me i was having a large baby and even booked me in to induce me a week before my due date. I had her 3.2 weeks before the inducement date and she weighed the grand total of 4lb 8oz

o that a very very big baby, was they all on drugs? thank u to both of you's replys :-)

The condition of having 'too much water' is known as Polyhydromnious and can be something and nothing. Some ladies seem to have a large amount of fluid around the baby and all is normal, but it can also mean that there maybe a problem with the baby or the mum (ie if mum is diabetic or baby has a problem with swallowing or it's kidneys). Your friend will probably be referred to a consultant and may have more regular scans/A/N appts depending on what they think is the cause for the excess fluid.
