Likelihood is you 'll have plenty of time on the day ! With ds it was over 12 hours before we even phoned the hospital. I'd keep to something plain, can you put pitta and bread inthe freezer and have some rice or pasta based meals and soup on standby. you may not even feel like eating much.

For drinks fizzy water and glucose laden drinks like Lucozade.

I ate nothing for 24 hours. DH made me a sandwich halfway, but I couldn't eat it. I had no biuld up really though. The contractions just went from nothing to agony.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Maybe get some cartons of juice or something to keep your sugar levels up.

I couldn't eat either when in full blown labour, but it took a good few hours to get there which would have given me loads of time to make stuff. We did pack cereal bars though which were good afterwards!

    And water - bring water!

I didn't want anything when I was in labour except water. I froze some of the water that comes in sports bottles. We took these to the hospital in a little cool bag. Hours later they were still nicely chilled. I was roasting in labour but they wouldn't open the windows as it couldn't be too cool when the baby was born.

I'd pack some snacky bits for your birthing partner though.

Malteazers! When I was in labor I didn't really feel like eating much, but towards the end I was getting low on energy and the malteazers where brilliant for just giving me the sugar kick I needed to get through the next push, without actually having to focus on eating because it just melts in your mouth
My labor only lasted 7 hours though, you may want something else if it lasts longer. But definitely get something super sugary for quick energy boost. And water. Lots of water!

Any food I took into hospital got eaten by DH. But then I always end up with c-section so never got time to eat.
