    So... The Budget

So, the Budget was read yesterday and, I have to say, I wasn't impressed. 1p off at the pumps that'll save me a grand total of 52p a week, I'm already looking at an Eton application to take advantage of this wind fall. Higher personal allowance which means I don't get taxed on £600ish of my salary and that's about it in real terms.

Yet, with all of these "incentives" and tax breaks doled out by the government yesterday, according to the BBC News - Budget 2011: Budget calculator, I'm going to be £870.45 worse off for 2012. And this is JUST what the govn't takes from me - God knows what is going to happen with utilities and the out of control petrol prices.

So, they are trying to stimulate the economy by making me worse off to the tune of nearly a grand, but Orange also called me yesterday and adjusted one of the handsets on my contract which will *SAVE* me over £240 a year alone on 1 of the 5 devices I pay for. Now, if a private and commercial business calls me up out of the blue to offer me a £240+ saving, why the hell is the government who can't keep their own house in order without access to millions of pounds in "expenses" and pissing money away on shite like the "Happiness Survey" wants more and more money from us - why are we not more angry as a nation? Or, have we just given up and accepted our lot in life to be bent over a barrel?

Need DH to do the calculator thing tbh as his income is a bit mroe complictated since being a partner as he is self employed as a result of that.
I think I will end up paying no income tax as my salaryis too low, but Dh gets no personal allowance at all, and I think will pay a lot more National Insurance.
Fuel and wine will hit us socially I guess.
But I know that we are currently in a very good, comfortable position, esp financially these days, so can't really complain.

Says we will be £550 ish better off......can't get much worse in our house or we will have to stop eating! I just did a weekly shop with my last £27. Thank god payday is in a week! If the calc had said worse off, i'd really worry!LOL

On a fab note, we took out a fixed discount morgage at a good rate 3 years ago....when we come off the fixed rate in June we go onto the standard tracker, and will be better off, as the intrest rates have fallen!

And I've just had news that my parking fine (for parking in a loading bay while I loaded...) has been overturned too!!

My observations: Glad I don't smoke anymore. Fuel duty still a complete fucking joke. Wish they would decrease the lower rate Corp tax by a percent each year as they are doing the upper rate. Wine should be duty free.

Would of liked something done about stamp duty, we're thinking of moving next year.

Well I'm not bothered about fuel. I currently spend around £200 a month but when they make me redundant, I'll have no commuting so will actually be better off
