    Has anyone seen this?

Severe UK child poverty on the rise in the UK.

Never mind falling house prices and bank buyouts - this is the truly devastating effect of the recession.

How can a country that maintains to be so affluent and civilised still have such an enormous amount of poverty among our people? London is apparently at 19% ....

Because people are selfish and don't want to share - raising taxes to pay for social change causes outcry, even for the high earners.
And people would rather gamble on the lottery than give to charity.

I heard somewhere that it actually costs the country MORE in taxes to maintain this country's poverty levels than it would to eradicate it altogether...

apparntly we are now offically out of recession according to the news reader on the radio today time will tell i suppose..

I think alot of people play the lottery rather than giving to charity as they feel they have more to gain if they win and in the recession everyone became obcessed with money so yes maybe a little selfish but at the same time charity begins at home for alot of people
