by another prisoner
says he had been taken to hospital but nothing else
Unfortunately it's not life threatening !
Yes, why didn't they slash it a bit deeper?!
All things aside... What gets me, is the prison system in this country....
daily mailWithin weeks of arriving, Huntley was given privileges which others would take months of good behaviour to earn.
They include a private room within the health care wing. Rather than being forced to wear uniform, he and other inmates are allowed their own choice of designer clothes.
Officers guarding Huntley have been told by the governor to treat him - and fellow inmates - as 'extensions of their family' and use their first names or address them as 'Mr'.
The officers were also instructed to 'humour' Huntley and to play games such as chess, darts and Scrabble with him because, until recently, he could not associate with other prisoners.
Three meals a day, chosen by Huntley from an extensive menu, are delivered to the 12ft x 10ft room where the pressures of serving a double life sentence are alleviated by his personal Freeview TV, a Sony CD player, stereo and Nintendo games console.
I mean, really?
This man brutally murdered two children and he has a better quality of life than I do!
We were burgled at work last month, the guy took over £20k worth of gear and caused roughly £10k in property damage. You know what he got? 3 month suspended sentence.
Back home, you go to jail and you get an 8x8 concrete cell with steel bunk beds, a steel sink, and a steel shitter. That's where you spend 23 of 24 hours a day. And that's a relatively 'cooshy' jail - some of the maximum security joints in the south are - well... Extreme.
There is absolutely no incentive to remain a 'law abiding' citizen anymore, and frankly, I'm surprised there isn't more crime than there is. A few years ago, ladders were found outside the walls of a prison up north. After investigating, it was found that the ladders were used by hookers going in to the prison, servicing the 'clients' and then using the same ladders to leave. The simple fact that the prisoners didn't use the same ladders to leave with them says a lot.
ERG!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I didn't mean to rant - it's just this is one thing that REALLY gets my goat. If you've murdered/raped someone (child or not) you DO NOT DESERVE to have designer clothes, a nintendo, or eat 3 square meals a day.
Sorry. Rant over.

It is the Daily Mail.
Half of what they write is not true.
Having worked within the prison system, working on a one to one basis with lifer prisoners and high risk inmates, visiting the cells and the wings, talking to these men, and seeng exactly what does and does not happen within the prison walls I can honestly say that whenever I read the Daily Mail's take on prison life it bears no resemblence to real life. They talk rubbish with very little to back up their stories.
I would still rather live in a society that does not have the death penalty. For me, the death sentence does not belong within a civilised country. I disagree it with it whole heartedly in all cases.
Also near in mind that the presence of the death sentence does NOT bring down crime rates. There is no evidence long term which suggests this is the case. Why? Simple reason is that the criminals do not expect to get caught int he majority of cases, they do not stop and think first.
