Thumbs up the drugs dont work when...

i have been on medication for depresion and social phobia, for over 10 years on and off,i have had about a month or two of lucid calm moments but not often.
The trouble is that if you are a single parent with little or no support there is litterally no chance you will get better. My life is CHAOS..I dread getting up in the morning,my 12yr old daughter hates school with a vengence, she feigns illness every day and when i ignore her moans she starts to scream and cry and becomes verbally abusive,.The thing is she has had a tough time over the last two year, she was raped in feb 2006 ,the boy went to young offenders in november 2006 he got a two yr detention training order,he got out november 2007,but since the incident, she has gone off the rails as such, getting in with some bad sorts and ended up in court for street robbery, she sees a pshychiatrist but it doesn't seem to help her at all,Things have become worse with her refusal to go to school they are threatening to fine me and when she does go in school her behaviour gets her sent home and they are threatening to excluded,i cant cope any more i am a bit of a control freak and i have got none i dont know what to do or who to turn to any more any advice would be greatfully appreciated

    Hi Marie.
Sorry to hear that you have so much going on at the moment. Absolutely awful what happened to your daughter, other than the psychiatrist that your daughter sees does she see a counsellor at all.... ? If not it may be worth seeing if you could get her some help & support there, does the school have a counsellor? I think given what your daughter has coped with so far the school should be trying to support you & your daughter as best they can....rather than just threatening with excluding her.
Do you have a good & understanding GP? Have you talked to him/her?
Do you have at least one person that would listen & support you with things?

I 100% agree with Neddy; are the school aware of what she went through? If so then they should be far more understanding than what they are in my opinion. I would find out who your school's education welfare officer is, and go from there. These guys work for both sides, not the school, more for the pupil, so that would be my first port of call in a situation like this.

Do you have any other children?

It must be a nightmare for you
