Hmmm, depends how careful they are. The screen can be quite fragile, I know this because I leant on mine the other day and cracked it rendering it useless.

Flo has had one since last Christmas (11yr old) - since she's read about 30 books and reads every night in bed with the case with integral light... Brilliant bit of kit, thinking about getting one for Ana as she's quite keen on bedtime reading too..

They are absolutely brilliant, I adore mine and replaced it immediately. I've got a case like Flo has with the light and I'd taken it out for some reason, leant over to set my alarm clock and leant on the screen with my elbow. Heard it go pop and knew it was bad, screen was fragmented and so it was unreadable. IIRR there's glass inside that the e-ink works on and if that breaks then it's buggered. You can get protectors to prevent scratches etc but they wouldn't stop the cracking if it got sat on or leant on etc.

Saying that though I don't suppose it's much more fragile than a DS for example.

Sounds good! How do you buy books? Is it like an itunes account and can you buy a book once and have it on more than one kindle? thanks

Dd and I both have one and I agree with Sabian it is a brilliant bit of kit.

You can buy books from Amazon Kindle shop - or just download the free ones!!! They are on the Kindle within Seconds!!!

DSW, can you share the books between the 2 kindle's or would you have to buy them twice?

I think you can download the books to your PC and then copy to both via USB. I download directly to the Kindle so I am sure how you would do it that way.

Content purchased from the Kindle Store can be downloaded to your Kindle Keyboard, or Kindle compatible device, as long as you've registered the device to the Amazon.com account that purchased the Kindle content. There is no limit on the number of times a title can be downloaded to a registered device, but there may be limits on the number of devices (usually 6) that can simultaneously use a single book.

That means you can download and read your books on any Kindle device you own as long you've registered each device to the Amazon.com account where your Kindle Library is stored.
