Thread: Z beds / Chair beds - children's sleepovers

Just wondering what you guys thought really!

The girls (Flo in particular) are having friends over more and more. Their room isn't very big, and they both have high sleepers to give them more floor space. The problem arises when they want a sleep over because the high sleepers are singles so the options are:

• I sleep on sofa while DD2 sleeps with pie and DD1 and friend have the two beds in the girls room
• Friend sleeps on floor of room whilst the girls sleep in their beds
• Friend and DD sleep, squashed, in the same bed whilst other DD has their bed to themselves.

I was thinking of getting a small sofa bed to go in the space between the beds but this also poses a problem or two. I'm not sure if I have the width, nor the length to accommodate a sofa bed. Which brings me to my question (I know, finally!)

Do any of you have any of these types of things?

I vaguely remember them from my early years and they weren't very comfy... I was just wondering with the wonders of the modern world, have these infamous chair/beds gotten any better?

We have a put you up bed - it has a folded metal frame and a very very thin matress - most bloody uncomfortable thing - but Dd loves it and at the weekends ask's me to get it out so she can sleep on it!! She has a lovely high rise bed - but she does love the novelty of the put you up!!

The answer to your problems Sabian - is say no to sleep overs - just like I do!!! LOL!!

Yeah, I saw these too and thought about it until I saw the construction and... No. Since, undoubtedly, I'll end up on it at some point or another - I'm not even going there!

My other thoughts were on something like these:
Sleepover Bed, Cube Bed,Footstool, Spare Bed, Zbed on eBay (end time 07-Mar-10 08:58:42 GMT)
or
3ft Single (90cm) Futon Set with Mattress on eBay (end time 03-Mar-10 22:48:57 GMT)


I think I'm just loathe to spend £40 on a bit of foam when these things cost me $19 back home... Ten years on, and I still can't allow myself to accept you lot pay a lot more for stuff!

I wish, but I'm already called a fascist on near daily basis - so I thought I'd concede this time!

what about using a good quality air bed that can just be put up and down as required

Buy some Foam and make your own!!! LOL!

What about a readybed? This sort of thing
Just inflate it when you need it
Argos do a cheap battery operated pump that is fab with inflatables

OOooh, I didn't think of that!

When we went to the states last summer, my mom only had 1 single bed so the girls took turns sleeping in the proper bed and on a single air mattress and that was fine...

We used to have some for the girls but they were a bit rubbish really.

I didn't know they made adult ones though... Curiouser and curiouser....

We had a ready bed unti DS popped it!! MIL has 2 beds like the ones you saw on eBay and they are perfect, we borrow them for sleepovers
