I know it is not the magic wand that we all kindof hoped there would be, Pie - but can I focus on the good stuff? Having baby number 3 will not make it worse, and it WILL get better one day. I think that is worth a :clap

And of course a :hug for the long wait....

Pie, I've only had a little bit of spd, but I have had a painful pregnancy condition which takes time to resolve, so I can give you a bit of sympathy!! Poor you. Its awful to have the pregnancy over and still be suffering.
My GP got a letter back from my Urologist this week to say he basically has no more ideas about what to do with my kidney stones - it will get better, but I just have to give it time, and in the meantime drink 8-10 pints of water a day and take the painkillers (does this sound familiar????)

What painkillers are you on? Do they affect you in any way?

I know what it is like to face a new pregnancy with a painful pregnancy related condition to worry about. That is why I was never having any more kids!! I remember standing a t the back door looking out the day I found out I was expecting Rachel, knowing what was to come, and wondering if I could manage it. Throughout my pregnancy I took up to 500mg of pethidine in the day, just to keep the pain manageable, not to take it away completely. It was a nightmare, and I'm still taking pethidine a few times a week, plus am on antibiotics (hey, is it any wonder I'm depressed!&#33. But I go in at night to look at Rachel sleeping, or when I am sitting bf her (and I had to put up a huge fight to be allowed to do that), and every single jot of pain was worth it.

I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wanted to give you a bit of hope. You will 'brave' another pregnancy because that is what is right for you and your family. No-one who hasn't had to make that choice (and no man, I think) can understand that. My urologist wanted me to have a termination, I was warned that I could lose the use of my kidney, but in the end everything was fine, and whatever it took, I'm glad to have Rachel.

Help I can feel a wee tear and I'm in school!

    Keep us informed!

LOVE your plan by the way.

    xxxxx

Thank you Susan. Its the constant day in day out thing about it that's hard isn't it. No day off? :grouphug

I'm still taking Codeine Phosphate, 30mcg up to 4 times a day. Its not very good.

Theres loads of other options for pain releif. Coedeine must make you a bit on the bunged up side, does it not?

Have you asked for a referral to a pain specialist, if it is going to go on as long as the orthopod is telling you? Most hospitals have an anaesthetist who is interested in pain and who will runa plain clinic (we have one ever here). There are pain control patches you can have, which are pretty good, I think.

Maybe worth chatting to your GP about it - could well be worth a go anyway!

That would be a pain clinic, not a plain clinic!!

Thanks Susan, I should have asked yesterday but forgot. The consultant was going to write to the GP and send me a copy, as soon as the GP is up to speed I will make the appointment and find out about a pain clinic. Haven't noticed any constipation tbh, I put everything down to my IBS!

I loved my pain doctor. He was the only person in the hospital who took my pain seriously, and therefore dealt with it. I'm quite a big mamma, and so need a decent dose of painkiller, 100-150 mg of pethedine at a time (100mg is standard in labour) for the kidney pain. My pain doc was great and had no bother with prescribing this for me. My obstetrician, on the other hand, didn't beleive the pain and gave me 25mg at a time - which was a waste of time, a total waste. We're actuallyt complaining about how it was handled at the moment, because he deliberately left me in pain, just to test out if I was faking!!!!!
Hopefully you will be able to get some help about it soon. (hugs)

LOL Sorry but I've been there...I started to suffer from SPD while pregnant with my daughter 6 years ago, had a brilliant delivery with her but still suffered with SPD after although doctors called it wear and tear and old age (I was 30) as "you can't possibly suffer from SPD when you are not pregnant dear it is only suffered by women who are pregnant" ......anyway I put up with the pain and the clicking as there was nothing else I could do, I carried on with the anti-inflammatories and the physio, I also had injections and wore support belts. Anyway I fell pregnant again with my son 3 years ago but the SPD hit with a vengeance when I was 12 weeks pregnant, back on the crutches and wheelchair. Again I had a brilliant delivery with him but the symptoms have got worse and worse, I have tried everything there is to try and I am currently waiting to see if my ortho surgeon will refer me too the specialist for the operation to plate my pelvis. The reason I said LOL above is that I was sterilised in October last year (no way I could risk any more children) and I'm on morphine for pain relief for SPD and have been for nearly a year now, nothing else works anymore, but when I was in hospital (normally done as day case but I was kept in for 5 days) they were a nightmare at giving me my pain relief. They were only used to women having kapake for a day (co-proxamol) and so to give me morphine well they just couldn't understand it. They made me feel like a junkie when I was lying there in pain almost begging them for my "fix" just so that I could get out of bed to go to the toilet.

Anyway I hope everyone is well and not in too much pain, as someone else said (Pie I think it was), it's the constant pain, even an hour off would be nice just to feel normal once again

Take care all and lots of hugs

    :hug
