Sharp stabbing type pain in left side...UPDATED after consultant app.

I'm not sure if this is preg related or not....thought I would ask you lot, see what you thought.

Since Friday now I have had a sharp stitch like pain in my left side, about as high as where my waist once used to be. Its only on the left, and it is VERY painful, hurts if I breath in too deeply, when I walk, twist or move about. It feels a bit like when you get hunger pains, but I am eating as normal and dont feel hungry.

The worst thing is, its on the left, and my SPD is mainly in my right. So I had the worst nights sleeps ever last night.

Standing from sitting or lying is almost impossible as I cant uncurl myself properly if that makes sense?

I dont know whether to bother tha Dr or not. Could it be something else or is it just another part of being pregnant?

Honestly I feel like I am falling apart at the seams! lol

Might be a muscle strain where you;re over compensating for your right side where the SPD is worse?

I remember what it was like, it was grim, I was in agony most days, and it got worse the bigger I got. Fred was 9lbs 5oz, which didn't help

But I swear in the very minutes post birth, and during the 30 mints after when i walked to the bath, I was pain free.......apart from the twinkle-stretchage pain!!!!

    There is hope then!

When preg with DD2, I dreaded going in to Hospital and leaving DD1 for first time ever, but now, (And I feel really awful saying this) I am looking forward to it in a strange sort of way, knowing the first day I'll be on morphine and pain free, and then I will have a day or two of bed rest with people looking after me. Even though I miss the girls terribly.

Nothing wrong with looking forward to the rest.

Sure as hell won't get much rest when you get home

Sounds like a 'sticky rib' hun, very painful but not uncommon, especially if your are over compensating because of other pain.

It's the rib at the bottom of the ribcage that causes the grief as it is, essentially, not attached to anything at all .... this can cause it to move around and get 'caught' in places it shouldn't, for example, under the rib above it. It's attached only by cartilage rather than full bone, hence the movement and the pain
Anti inflammatories usually work but, seeing as you're PG, possibly a chat with a pharmacist or a doctor wouldn't go amiss.
    Hope it settles soon.

    Thanks Amanda.

I guess I might as well wait until Thur morning and speak to the consultant about it. I am miserable tonight

not got a UTI have you Lise?, take a couple of paracetamol and see if it eases, anti inflammatories are usually a no no in pg tbh. Def mension to the cons at your next appt but in the meantime drink lots, rest up as much as poss and take paracetamol if it helps. Soon be over for you hun

Does UTI mean water infection Amy? I had 1 + in my urine at last MW app (Which will be 2 weeks ago this Thur) so she sent it off for testing, I called today and they said all was normal, cos I did wonder about that firstly. I spose something could have changed since then tho.

This is getting worse, much worse

I can barely walk now, I slept dreadfully, its hurting to breath.

I called Docs this morning, they have 2 off sick and the best they can do is tell me to call back on Thur morning at 8am to see if they have an appointment. I just called the team of MW's I am under and the receptionist told me that all MW's are out till 1pm. I have an emergency number for them but I still feel like I might be blowing this out of proportion a bit.
