Inspired by the Pupuce/Pie delivery, I am intrigued....
Will tell my bizarre story shortly....
Alex was *caught* by a student midwife called Olga.
Eleanor was *caught* by an independant midwife called Caroline -who is really fab.
Mother to Alex (4/1/1998), Eleanor (18/10/2003) and Toby (26/3/2005)

are dull; some have wierd names; and all are different colors. But they all
exist very nicely in the same box."
Oscar by a midwife called Lynda
Delilah by a lovely midwife called Ruth - she was so great. There were two of them as I had a home birth but the other one was a bit annoying...
I was so glad that Ruth was the second midwife and got there in time for the delivery (just) :laugh
I didn't catch Pie's baby... no one did... she just gently came out and then the male midwife held her until Pie could hold her herself.... seconds later.
My son was helped by Sue and my daughter by Sally - if I had a 3rd I'd catch it myself !
I don't know is that bad?
A midwife both times but names I don't know. :shrug
Eleanor didn't come out gently - she shot out! Needed catching! As I recall it went like this.
3:10 I asked the midwife to do a VE - I was only 4cm but decided that I want ed to get in the pool.
3:20 got in the pool.
3:40 everything got really intense. I felt like I was drowning. The only thing to hang on to (figuratively speaking) was my midwife who made me look at her all the time. It was like a lifebelt.
4:00 A pushy contraction. Decided to remove my underwear.
4:02 - another - bag of waters obviously emerging.
4:04 - third contraction - waters broke and baby shot out.
It was intense - and rather horrible actually.

I had 4-5 midwives talk to me with Sam and 3 -4 with Alex it didn't even cross my mind to focus on remembering names.
Sorry Macca - I trained as a midwife, and was lucky enough to have a tutor who was really sticky about this.Originally posted by Macca@Mar 27 2004, 10:42 PM
