right while I have 5 mins....

Friday evening was DD1's school fete and so we decided to walk there and back rather than drive to see if we could increase the niggles I was having (and had been having for weeks!). Had a laugh about having a go on the bouncy castle there and after a while we came home. We put the girls to bed and at 9ish our friends arrived for the evening. They went home around midnight and I went to bed around 1ish. By now any niggles had died off and I was totally convinced that tonight would NOT be the night.
I was woken about 3.30ish with quite sharp abdo pains, but they seemed short lasting and irregular (around 10mins apart) so I decided to try and ignore them and go back to sleep but I couldn't get comfy lying down so got up to the loo and discovered I was having quite a heavy bloody show, did a quick check of my cervix and felt I was around 3cms dilated but not a massive change to how it had been recently .
I went back into the bedroom and by the time I got there, the pains were coming about every 2-3mins and felt stronger but still felt short lasting. I woke DH and we went down stairs while I debated whether to call the M/W or not.
At 4am DH called them as the pains were now coming every other minute and lasting longer. I put my TENS on and he started to get the pool ready. We then called my mum to come round (and so my dad could take the dog back to their house lol).
Both M/W and mum arrived at 4.30 and at 5am she did a VE and I was 4cms but now fully effaced and head was low. she called the 2nd M/W and asked her to collect the gas and air from the hospital as she didn't carry any with her!!! .
Contractions then really stepped up a gear and were coming one on top of the other. The pool was still filling and I was breathing through them as best I could but felt V dizzy as I wasn't having any break between them.
Finally the pool was ready so I managed to jump in inbetween contactions and BLISS!!, the water felt like heaven UNTIL the next contraction and I felt a pushing urge so strong I thought I going to explode!!, my waters went and with the next contraction out came her head and body in one!. The 2nd midwife arrived with the gas and air just as her head came out LOL. she was born less than 10 mins of getting into the pool at 05:51.
She came up pink and V contented. DD1 woke just as her body was born and came downstairs to meet her new sister . We left the cord to stop pulsating and I gave her a feed in the pool. Placenta delived naturally 20mins later and no tears anywhere . Normal blood loss and everything perfect .
DH made us all a cuppa and toast and after the midwives left my mum took the girls to her house for a play and DH and I took Hermione up to bed with us for a rest and a snuggle
I couldn't have wished for a better birth experiance .
