I was going to say Ergo too!
I used mine with the munchkin man from approx 13 months of age...after trying out RiMMer's at an MO meet! have just started using it with the Mini Munchkin- on my back and he loves it! There is a short learning curve to get the babe on to your back unaided. It is great especially for longer trips out- like wearing a good quality rucksack. The sleep hood is fab as both mine tend to doze off in it. It is also quite man friendly with the buckles and straps- the only carrier DH has ever offered to use, even though I have the slightly girly cranberry/critters one.
    Go buy one

The only thing with SSCs like the Ergo is having to adjust it each time a different person uses it, and actually I don't find my classic Ergo all that easy to put on compared to wraps and MTs. I get in a pickle with the shoulder straps. Something that ties, MT or Podaegi, will do what you want, and hip carrying too, as will a woven wrap, and seeing as you've got used to handling the length of the HaB it won't be that big a leap to a woven

I'll bring my Connecta and a MT and woven round if you like so you can have a try of those too (you can never have too many slings imo ;-) ) lol.
