    Alergy to what??

My 2 year old twin has suffered with terrible bloaded tummy bad wind both burping and trumping constipated/undigested food she has in the last couple of months got exeama and had a asthma attack which needed steriods.

While we was away at the weeked she had a bad reaction to something her eys swelled up her cheeks swelled up and inside her cheeks swelled up she had bright red cheeks we gave her piriton and sat it out. When I spoke with my HV on Monday she said we should have taken her to a&e as it can be very dangerous.
We saw a locum gp on monday eve and she made me feel like a nurotic mother and said if it happens again give her piriton if she looks like she cant breath call 999!!
I spolke again with my HV who was not happy with what she had said so she spoke to a regular gp at our practice and he also wasn't happy with the locum so she is being seen by him on Monday.

When I got fish and chips at the weekend there was a big sign up about nut allergys, I thought "thats ok glad none of mine have a nut allergy" . But now im wondering if it was nuts I dont really no much about allergys but I am scared it will happen again and ive been told the second time can be a lot worse.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated
    Katex

I would say that you need to get her referred to an allergy clinic so that she can be tested properly. I would insist on it if I were you.

    Hi Kate,

Sorry you had to experience this and that your GP was not very helpful.

The best thing you can do is monitor all foods that you are giving your child to eat and note any reactions/rashes that may occur. I would also avoid nuts just incase. Push your GP to refer you to an allergist who can carry out tests to see if your child is allergic. Obviously he/she has definatley sensitised to something.

As a precautionary measure - I would carry the pirton with you at all times.

I can completely sympathise with what you are going through as my dd was diagnosed with a nut allergy after a severe allergic reaction when she was 1.

Hope you get it sorted out soon, and if your GP won't help ask to see a different one.

    Just to update.
We saw our regular GP on Monday and he has refered her for a blood test to make sure its not a nut allergy. She has the blood test on 14th May.

If that comes back normal then he said hes happy to just wait and see.

Does this sound ok to you???

Sounds like a move in the right direction - but a skin prick test would be quicker and you would get the result immediatley.

Has she had any other reactions since last time?

DS1 has an allergy to eggs, we were sent for skin prick tests immediately after the first reaction, we go back every year to re-check the allergy.
