I also am highly sensitive to cats, and one house we lived in we had to have all the carpets ripped out and replaced, despite the fact there hadn't been a cat in the house for over a year before we moved in!! We had all the carpets deep steam cleaned, etc. but nothing worked. This is one of the reasons we live in a house with hard flooring throughout - carpets are a nightmare for people with allergies.
Hope the allergy testing pin points something for you.
Our DD was tested for HDM via skin prick testing and also via blood tests - she is not allergic to HDM thank goodness, but yes it's a common one they will usually include in the testing, easy to get a yes or no.

DD went through all the testing and it came back positive for cats and dogs we we're however that you not necessary allergic to all dogs as with cats...
The caprpet thing at my parents is still a problem and they now visit us here.
We had a dog a week ago after long searching and testing and sh'es been fine but we have all stone and wooden floor in the ares we're the dog goes so have had no problems at all.
