1st wee in the potty!... but I have very mixed emotions.

Mini Munchkin has been showing signs of being ready for a while, but has never actually performed. This morning he had a dry night nappy, 2nd on the run!, so I offered him the potty and he did a massive wee
I am so pleased for him.......BUT

The same morning My gorgeous 5 yr old Munchkin Man had a hugely wet night nappy and bed .
I have no problem with him still wetting, but it would be so difficult for him if his little brother is dry at night before him
M Man knows all about the wee on the potty...and cheered for his brother, but I have not mentioned the dry night nappies

Don't say anything, treat it as something perfectly normal (which it is for both of them) and if he brings up the subject just explain how it's not something that he can do until his brain is ready, and that it will happen in good time. Dd1 was dry at night at 2.5 (same time as dry in day), dd2 still has a night nappy and she was 4 in March.

Well done for mini munchkin as well

Agree with Zoe. Don't mention it and if it omes up deal with it then.

Mollie knows that most children her age don't have wet bed accidents but she sometimes does, albeit very very rarely in last 12 months. But we just explained that these things happen and there is nothing you can really do about it. People's bodies work in different ways.

MT was brilliant at potty training and being dry at night

Then suddenly we had a spate of wet beds

And now we are having a spate of wet pants

They are all different and develop differently

you'll have to praise your gorgeous lump of boyness for all the other things he does so well

    Agree with the others MJ.

I was raised in a house where we were both treated exactly the same (totally fair), and no mention was ever made of anyone being better at or special at anything. This led to hideously competitive siblings, who are always on the lookout for ways to be better than the other (even as adults).

Praise your little one like mad for being so great at potty training, but also reassure your big boy too. I think they will both be fine with it - being different is normal (and fun).

Oh, and the age difference between Emily and Sofie is 2 years. Sofie became reliably dry at night 8 months ago. Emily has been reliably dry at night for the past month. Different kids, different rate of development.

    Thanks everyone.
It was only bothering me because Munchkin Man has recently been so verry fed up eith the fact that he has "not got the hang of it" despite constant reassurance that it is ok and that he will get there with time.
The little one has done a few more wees on target and is delighted with himself
