    Question Dry at night question?

How many dry nights did your child have before you thought of them as technically 'dry'? Basically at hat point do you remove the night nappy?

I am only asking as I think I am probably being pathetically slow about accepting the fact that she really is dry at night....

Neither had had a dry nappy when they decided to try without. Very few accidents

Both of mine seemed to go dry at night literally overnight and maybe had 3 accidents over the following 6 months. I used to put a nappy on DS2 after he fell asleep and he would take it off in the night anyway so I just gave up after a couple of weeks.

I'm afraid I left Alex in nappies for about a month after she was consistently dry. Too lazy to change beds in the middle of the night! No accidents since then.

Having this issue with ds2 now.

He's 6 and has been consistently dry for months at a time for about a year, but recently we've had wet bed after wet bed.

He's back in pull-ups for now and on the bottom bunk for ease of night-time changes....doing the top bunk at 2am is not funny!

Mollie came out of night pants at 4y as she refused to wear them. We got some reuseable bed mats instead for her bed which went on top of her sheets. She wasn;t dry at night but wanted to be. The accidents got less and less but it was only sometime last year (so 6y) when she was consistently dry. She still has the very odd accident, but it is very unusual now.

I wish I had an answer but my 2 that are dry by day are still nowhere near dry by night, even the 6 yr old, he refuses to get up and use the toilet but he is also the one inclined to have accidents in the day through sheer lazines as well.

I know people say get up lift them etc but I am so exhausted once I get to bed I can't physically get myself up again just to put them on the loo etc.

My dd was dry by day when she was 2 and half and dry by night by 3 with few accidents - I had a good tip from someone here about lifting her to the toilet even though she was asleep - so she would go and not wet the bed.

AL - Gosh what a nightmare - changing beds in the middle of the night is not fun!!! Hope he gets back to being dry soon.

When we spoke to the GP and HV about dry nights they advised against lifting as a longer term solution. They also said not to restrict drinks, but to ensure the child is drinking plenty during the day.

With Mollie she was able to drink as much water as she wanted but we did stop juice, etc after 3:30pm ish as this did have an affect on her.

I think mine were unusual though as DS2 was dry day and night from about a week or 2 after his 2nd birthday and I refused to believe it as coulnt see how he could be dry at night at that age. I used to leave a potty in his room so if desperate he could wee in that in the morning if half asleep. I know it sounds obvious but mine always go to the toilet right before bed whether they say they need to or not as usually a dribble will comeout anyway.

I know people say boys take longer than girls but I am not sure that is the case as boys get erections which is natures way of stopping them from weeing hence the reason for morning glory in many boys and men!
