My tiny Lilah is potty training

For the last few weeks Lilah has continuously taken her nappy off after every wee, its been getting silly, and even in blazing hot weather I was having to put popper vests on her to try and stop her, but in the last few days she is even getting past them!

So, yesterday I let her take her nappy off, and I bought the potty down from the spare room. She knows what it is as she see's Grace using it, and regularly sits on it herself. I only packed it away a few weeks ago as Grace was using it instead of the loo being lazy and Lilah kept tipping it out!

Anyway, she did several wee's in it yesterday but I put a nappy on her late afternoon as I had tonnes of housework to do and couldnt keep reminding her etc, today I put a nappy on this morning without thinking and she took it off whilst Grace was at pre-school. I forgot about it and only remembered when I picked Grace at almost 12 and realised Lilah was sat in her buggy bare bottomed with her legs open! ooops.

She stayed dry so when we got home I asked her if she needed the potty, she said No. Then about 10 mins later, she got up, took herself to the potty, lifted her dress (Ish!) and wee'd on it. All by herself.

I've left the potty out all day and left Lilah naked and she has done 9 wee's on the potty in total, pretty much unprompted, with me just reminding her from time to time. I put a nappy on her for her nap and she had done a wee in that too. She has had 1 accident whilst playing football in the garden with Daddy.

She is only 21 months! I dont want her to stop being a baby yet! I know I have another coming, and to be honest, a few nappy free months might be nice! But she is soooo little and growing up so fast

well done Lilah!!! that is great news. I know it seems as if she's growing up too fast Lise but just think how easy it will be only having the one in nappies full time

minimoo is showing some interest, taking her nappies off and we too have brought the potty back down from the loft but she hasn't yet wee'd on it. I think she'll be another few months yet. especially since we've been putting her in pullups which she likes as she thinks they are her big girls pants LOL.

    Thanks MM

Lilah LOVES pants, she puts Grace's on all the time. I think she will be thrilled when she gets to wear her own. I'm almost out of nappies, and I dont know whether to buy her pull up type things or more nappies....with Grace I stayed home for a week when we got to this stage, but I cant do that with Lilah, I have to take Grace to pre-school, we have a meal on Sat night for FIL's birthday and I'm taking them to Playhouse Disney on Ice tomorrow! So Im thinking maybe a pull up of some sort might be best so I can keep sitting her on the loo and see if she will wee? I dunno....arrrghhh I wasnt prepared for this!!

I know what you mean in saying she is growing up so fast and not wanting her to stop being a baby. My youngest turned two last month and I was sooooo sad that she is no longer a "baby" but is now definitely a toddler.

Its funny because around that time she was showing signs of wanting to be potty trained but that seems to have gone by the wayside since. Having said that after putting all the shopping away this morning I went towards the lounge to find her running down the hall completey stark naked!!! So maybe we are back on??

    Thought I would update this.

We had a good few weeks, and then a bad few weeks, where she suddenly regressed and wet herself constantly at home (Though NEVER when we were out!) I was so stressed with it a couple of weeks ago, I actually thought about putting her back in nappies. But wasn't sure that was the right thing to do.

We didnt, we carried on, and spookily, a day or two after that thought somwthing just clicked with her, and she has been fabulous ever since. I'd say in the last 3 weeks she's only had 2-3 accidents a week, and they seem more genuine accidents, IE not quite making it to the potty or loo in time, and being a bit distracted when playing, which is fine by me. It was when she used to stand next to the potty and wet herself that wound me up!

So she is the proud owner of Fifi pants and some plain pastels ones, she needs 9-12 really as her little bottom is so small, but the smallest I can find is 12-18 months from Mothercare, and they're not too bad. She was nice and dry just in time for her birthday on Fri and didnt even have an accident at her party yesterday

Soooo I have about 8 weeks of no nappies!! Yipppeee!
