This Forum is waaaay to quiet!!

    Where are you all?!

Well I'll just chat away to myself anyway....

We're still so excited about Mia and Tarka being at home to learn, but a bit fed up of being asked 'What school does she go to' every time we dare to stand at the bus stop in the morning!

Since we moved here, Mia's had a huge developmental spurt, she has gone from not saying anything much at all to being a complete chatterbox. She also seems to pick and use the funniest phrases....so if something surprises her she can often be heard exclaiming 'Gordon Bennet' or more embarrasingly (like when the bus stopped rather suddenly a few days ago) 'Blow My Buffers'...Don't worry that's not as rude as it sounds...as those of you familiar with Thomas the Tank engine will alreadyknow! On the same bus journey, she shouted '12345678910 GO!!' at some poor old lady trying to get up from her seat to leave the bus...

She's still a total bookworm and we have to read around 15 stories before bed every night. She makes towers out of everything and anything (at tea tonight it was a jar of mayonnaise, a bowl and a spoon....) She's also fascinated by shadows and spends ages placing different objects on the living room floor, when the sun shines through the window, and then examines the shape of the shadows she's created.

She also seems particularly interested in the moon, moss and painting!

OOh, and it was lovely to see her happy little face when our first bulbs flowered a few days ago, she been watering them and bending down watching and waiting for them to grow for weeks now...Can't wait to start planting veggies in tubs very soon...

So, what have the rest of you been up too?!
    Love Gina***

    Hi Gina,

I dont think weve spoken before as Im fairly new on here but would love to chat if you dont mind me gatecrashing!

Sounds like your little one is at a great age. They can say the funniest things right at the wrong time cant they.

I have three daughters, Abigail 7, Rhianna 4 and Olivia 16months.

They have all been at home today due to the snow and school being closed and so I have been trying to juggle everything and trying to get some work done at the same time (nothing new there though I suppose).

Trying to get over this horrible flu bug so unfortunately havnt been up to anything too exciting. Gosh I sound very boring.

I like gardening too as do my girls and cant wait to get stuck into our garden soon which is a very blank canvas at the moment. It is a great thing to be able to share with kids isnt it. I too want to be able to grow some veg this year and get the kids involved with it. What are you planning to grow?

    Hello!

Gardening is fab isn't it! We really want growing things to be a big part of Home educating for Mia and Tarka. We only have a concrete patch though, so we have to be very inventive with lots an dlots of tubs...We'll definitely be growing, tomatoes, potatoes, spinach, strawberries and herbs. We also have a tayberry bush but it's looking a little sorry for itself at the moment! We had a dwarf apricot tree for christmas too, so we'll be growing apricots in a year or so too!

wow Gina, sounds like you guys are going to have some great fun. We usually grown strawberries and tomatoes and the girls love getting dirty. Havnt really had the opportunity to do more as been renting houses for about 18 months or so. We finally moved into our own place in Aug 06 and can't wait to get stuck into the garden.

Home Educating - good for you. I dont think I would know where to start.

Anyway going offline now so do hope I get the opportunity to speak to you again.

Best of luck with the growing and the Home Ed!!

good luck with the apricots. we had one once when we lived in cornwall, but it didnt survive. i think it got too cold.

love the countdown for the old lady, lol.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.
