I was tempted as all my american family kept asking me if I was going to have one! But seeing as I am here and not there I didn't think it was appropriate - seems to me to be asking for people to buy me gifts which I don't think is part of our culture IYSWIM.

Some of my friends hosted a baby shower for me when I was pregnant with my first. I don't recall anyone actually calling it a baby shower but that's what it was...

It was really lovely, some nice food, good company and some lovely baby gifts! I think it's a great idea, it made me feel really special, especially as many of these were work friends and I wasn't going to see them for some time.

my SIL is having one in Oct. i think its a bit odd, but i dunno if its her idea or her friends'. shant be going obviously as we dont live in the same country!

i wouldnt feel right to ask people to buy me loads of stuff for my baby, but theres nothing different to a wedding list i guess.
