    oh bollocks

just got a text from a mum at school

"hi tilly, any chance we could have a chat? Having a few probs with X (her son), can I ring you tonight when he's asleep?"

I've said yes, course, no problem. But now I am actually quite anxious
I am pretty sure she won't be ringing to say, his spelling isn't very good, what would you advise

She is going to have some issue with MT. I've asked him - in a roundabout way - and he said that he swung x into a wall and got told off
And quite right too. But that X punched him in the tummy yesterday and hit him in the face today (and is responsible for the scratch on his face too from last week)

X is a mischievous boy but he's not horrid - I think they are fighting in play, from what I can gather but obv its not okay. MT told me that the two of them, and two other boys have boxing matches....

    oh bollocks, now what?

    no....

He's such a big boy for his age Neddy, I am always worried, and therefore vigilant, that he doesn't do anything bullying wise
He's not a bully per se, but being so much bigger and stronger, when he does the same as his classmates, it hurts more

Then that's what you say! Tell her you'll speak to MT about it but also it would help if she made x understand that playing fighting with someone so much bigger than him will lead to him getting hurt.

I think it is worth trying to take a joint view on it if possible. Just tell her what you have said here, and then try and agree on both of you speaking to the boys to not play fight at school as someone will get hurt and they risk getting into trouble too.

but being so much bigger and stronger, when he does the same as his classmates, it hurts more

    Welcome to my world

No advice other than to try and ride it out, and let the school deal with things that happen at school. And have a chat with him and make it clear he has to be less boisterous because he's so much bigger than the other boys.

This happened to Ds1 once the other year whereby he bit a girl in his class the mother accosted me in the playground....... have in your mind a 'bullet' shaped woman who reminds me of Miss Trunchball in 'Matilda'

"Does your ds have a problem with my dd?"

No I said and we left it like that.

Secretly I was thinking "YES, she is a little witch, she will have provoked him, no question, she has a reputation FFS"

So I went away feeling quite glad that this little girl had been given back the sort of treatment she regularly gave out, even if it had been accidental on my DS's part.

It made me feel a whole lot better too, when I was initially told about it by the head, who had a sort of twinkle in here eye when she told me, even thought it wasn't acceptable behaviour, she knew this girl had had it coming

    No drama's since funnily enough
