Because reception isn't year one it's still foundation stage. Imagine it as not part of the school at large. Our Reception class do their own thing, they are separate from the whole school, in as much as they are able to do their own curriculum, own playtimes, decide if they do assembly or not....they even have their own playground.
In other countries it's classed as Kindergarten, so think of it like that and then she starts first grade this september.....

Preschool - foundation 1
Reception - foundation 2 (not key stage 1, part of EYFS or early years foundation stage)
Year 1&2 - key stage 1
Year 3-6 - key stage 2, old juniors, finish primary end f y6
Year 7-9 - key stage 3
Year 10-11 - key stage 4, Gcse done at end of y11
Year 12&13 - sixth form, a levels at end of y13
Imagine how confused I was with their last school... their year one was the rest of the country's reception!
Mollie has a different system again as she has preprep 1-3 which is reception to y2, and then prep 1-4 which is y3-6.
