    Early GCSEs and revision compulsion

DD4 is Year 10 and taking 9 GCSEs this year, a year early as she's in an accelerated stream.

Her Art is already done and dusted, 10 hours over 2 days last week.

She's a very meticulous child, and studies constantly (I think she was swapped at birth with the newborn of academics!). Her exams re-start on Monday and then her last one will be June 22nd.

What's worrying me is she is giving up social activities left, right and centre to 'make sure' she gets As etc. I'm not sure this is healthy at all but don't know quite how to get the point across that she needs to maintain a healthy balance; if she doesn't learn a healthy balance now, in Year 10, what will she be like when we get to Year 13?!

Am I over-reacting, should I leave her to it, or should I be trying to sway her away from her self-made revision time-table a little?

I've never had a child like this before, and don't want her to 'burn out' ....

Its only a few weeks. Leave her be if she's happy doing it. If she looks like she's getting stressed then think about encouraging downtime.

(not speaking from experience, my lot wouldn't know a revision booklet if they saw one).
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

I agree that too much studying will burn her out, or even end up making her very stressed. Not sure how to tackle it though except to tell her that too much is not healthy and that she needs to have breaks.

Could you organise an outing, such as a family meal/night out or something so that she can see that having a break will probably do her a lot more good than constant studying?

My sister is having the opposite problem with my nephew! He's a great kid, but just refuses to do any studying at all (bit like his aunt was when she had her exams then )

Blimey, what a gem you have there! Encourage her to get those A's - it's only for a short time, lots of socialising & celebrating to be done all summer

Agree - although also agree that if she is getting stressed, encourage her to take longer breaks and get away from the books eg. a walk just for a time.

Thanks girls, I am going to be actively encouraging proper breaks by taking her out personally, if I have to.
It's like she's fast forwarding too much, too quickly, already fretting about one of the exams she's not sitting until Year 11, which was the initial heads up for me. I know she wants to do well, and I know why, but it all seems to be sitting in her head at once, with no spacing iyswim?
