Dropped him off and all the others looked so well groomed and trendy .... ds wore old trousers, a couple of inches too short, a fleece and trainers . It is Field Trip fgs , they were advised to wear old clothes as it will be muddy and wet !

    He'll have a great time.
No mobile needed. Be more hassle keeping it safe than anything.
Old clothes are what is needed. Don't want them refusing to do activities in case they get mud splashed on their besties.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

Blimey, we didn't even have a home phone until I was in year 8 and my brother developed epilepsy necessitating one as my dad kept falling over next doors fence whilst running round to theirs to call 999. We used to wander down to the phone box at the exact same time every week on a sunday so my gran could ring the box to speak to my mum. Ah, those were the days.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so

Oh and bless him . Last night I had a sudden realisation at 6.30, mid cooking dinner, that he needed a pack lunch for today, and typically we had very little in. My cry of Oh sh!t ! was greeted with a very calm , "So do you need to make a phone call mummy ?" , lol, as he nodded towards the phone for me to call dh !

I don't believe in kids having mobile phones. It is more potential for loss/theft than anything else at that age. What do they do with them anyway other than stand around in little groups texting other people? LOL! They are supposed to be in the care of teachers FGS who should have the necessary lines of communication already sorted out. They will be just fine!

When I were a lass, in the old days ... black and white telly, one big phone for the whole house, callboxes, landlines ... how did we survive?
