Yes, it's like a 2.1 I think, I guess I've got one eye on possibly doing a masters so wanting to get top marks to keep my options open iyswim?

On my course 70-84 overall is a merit and 85+ a distinction so you're not far off. I'd don't have anything to do with degree grading but 2.1 would seem right in that context.
Why not ask your tutor what you'd have to do to get a distinction?
Spent last 2 days writing an essay on the impact of the printing press on the European Reformation - zonked today!
Not updated this in ages, I finished my PGCE in June so am now a newly qualified Teacher! I have a job too so have enjoyed a nice summer holiday before I start the new term in a fortnight. Just starting to think about preparing for my classes now.
How are all the other courses going?
Well Done on passing and getting a new job,you must be so excited. Is your new job close to home?
Well done Zoe!! Where are you teaching?
I'm working just down the road from where i live at teh oment, which is fab! Gave up the 'teaching' some time ago, so now consider myself to be 'returning to teaching', in the form of a cover supervisor...although I am doing PPA cover in the afternoons this year, so i am thinking i should push for at least an HLTA salary, seeing as all the other PPA staff are qualified (and paid as) teachers!"

It's an Upper School about 15 minutes away, not our catchment school so I don't know the pupils or parents. I am teaching Maths, although the role is a little different as I am specifically to help support pupils who are underachieving so I will be doing real-life based projects to develop numeracy in different contexts. I am the only one doing this so I have more autonomy than I would have in the maths department itself so it's a good opportunity.
Congratulations on passing your PGCE and getting a job. Very pleased for you.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
